My Story

We look at our lives and think certain things cannot happen to us: such as, being given bad news about our health or dealing with the loss of a close friend. We often think these things happen to others and often seem so far removed until it actually happens to us.

Yet, in the blink of an eye one’s life can be dealt a huge blow overnight.

Mine is such a story.

I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 38. Within a space of weeks, I found myself spending more time at the hospital than I ever had my entire life; from the shock of being given the news and not even having enough time to digest the situation, to being sick constantly, weak, broken and in constant pain overnight and for months on end whilst enduring gruelling chemotherapy treatment.

Life has been a hard and daunting road since December 2018. And it continues to be a very challenging journey everyday. It has also been equally traumatic, gruelling and painful for my closest family and friends to see me so poorly and helpless.

Despite everything, as a believer and a woman of faith I have held on to the hope that I will fight the good fight of faith and will see the light at the end of what has been a dark, uncertain and arduous journey.

I may not be able to talk face to face to others going through the same thing but if there is one thing that I could tell you, it is this: do not give up!

Being now on remission, my aim and new lease on life is to do more of the things I enjoy and one of them is definitely to put a smile on people’s faces. In fact while I was at the hospital I wondered how I could cheer people up around me and it is is on my recovery bed that the idea of designing bags came up to me. I love designing and being creative and I am now realising a dream.

As a result, by designing bags and especially the post surgery drain bags, my hope is to bring a smile to your faces as you wear them knowing that the person who designed them has been through a similar fight as yours and she knows your story. And, if I fought through it… my dear friend.. you can also!

I thought that by doing something that I actually enjoy, it could contribute towards supporting cancer patients. I therefore want you to know that from every bag you purchase, a contribution will be made towards a cancer patients support association.

I really hope you are smiling right now.

With Love,
